A coffee with…. Rebecca Bissell, director of IT, Transport for London
Rebecca Bissell joined Transport for London (TfL) 14 years ago from the telecoms sector. During her long tenure at the local government body responsible for the city’s transport network, she has taken on various roles within the tech department.
As the organisation’s IT boss, she supports many parts of the business, including surface transport, the London Underground, and some of TfL’s corporate functions.
“Every department is very different, and every day is a school day – I learn something new even still now,” she says.
New Zealand-born Bissell spoke to TechInformed for this video episode of ‘A Coffee with…’ after a press event announcing the upgrade of the London Underground’s multi-service network. She speaks here about using data and technology to serve the customer, the biggest challenges facing her sector, trail running and her earliest memories of travelling on the metro.
